Pequea Lawn Farm:
A Five-Generation Legacy of Resilience

The Eby family’s history with Sauder’s Eggs is built on decades of evolution and a deep-rooted connection to the land. Farming a 120-year-old family estate, James Eby represents the fifth generation to tend the soil at Pequea Lawn Farm.
A Partnership Built on Evolution
The Eby family’s journey with Sauder’s began in 1997. Originally a traditional cage-layer operation under James’ father, Dennis, the farm embraced a major shift in 2000. Recognizing the growing need for sustainable agriculture, the Ebys removed their original 1980s cages and remodeled their barns to house Organic Brown Hens. Today, James and his wife Corrie continue this mission, operating two organic layer barns alongside beef cattle and cash crops.
Strength Through Adversity
The Eby family’s dedication was put to the ultimate test in 2016 when a devastating tornado demolished both layer houses and nearly every building on the farm. Supported by their faith and an incredible outpouring of community help, James and Corrie rebuilt their livelihood from the ground up.The farm of James Eby is a 5th-generation farm and is located in White Horse, Pennsylvania. These chickens are considered organic free-range.

“Despite the work and challenges of farming, we are grateful for the opportunity to earn an honest living while providing a nutritious and essential product for consumers.”

Today, the Eby family—including their three daughters and a menagerie of farm animals—remains a cornerstone of the Sauder’s producer network, proving that true quality is born from perseverance and heart.

Organic Free Range farmers are dedicated to the highest standards of Organic Free-Range egg production. This model ensures that every hen lives a life defined by balance—receiving 100% certified organic, non-GMO feed while enjoying daily access to the outdoors. By providing a sun-drenched environment, with Free Range standards requiring 2 square feet per hen, and fresh Pennsylvania air, farmers encourage their flocks to engage in natural behaviors like perching and foraging. The result is a clean, wholesome egg produced without the use of synthetic pesticides, antibiotics, or hormones, reflecting the commitment to both animal welfare and consumer health. This mindful approach to farming produces eggs with consistent quality and a pure nutritional profile that health-conscious families can trust.

The “Organic Free-Range” Standard

  • Space to Roam: Certified Free Range standards guarantee that hens have at least 2 square feet/hen.
  • Non-GMO: Organic hens must be fed 100% organic grain throughout their lifecycle, ensuring all feed is GMO free. Natural Diet: Foraging for bugs and varied greens provides a complex nutrient profile that grain-only diets simply can’t match.
  • Eco-System Health: These farms often utilize regenerative agriculture techniques, prioritizing hens vitality and the long-term health of the Pennsylvania countryside.
