A Family Tradition of Quality & Care

Sauder’s Eggs is dedicated to delivering the highest-quality eggs and egg products available on the market. Our family-owned and operated company started as a door-to-door delivery business during the Great Depression. Since our humble beginnings in the 1930s, we’ve evolved into one of the nation’s leading egg wholesaling organizations.

Our success is made possible with honesty, integrity, and long-lasting relationships. We work as an extension of many small, independently owned farms — and in many cases, we’ve worked with family farms for generations.

Farm Network Overview

Sauder’s Eggs’ network consists of approximately 50+ small farms with a combined total of over 3.5 million hens. Collectively, the hens produce about 1.4 million eggs annually. Most of the farms are family-owned and operated, just like our business. The operations are often managed by a farmer, his or her children, and one or two employees.

Our company is proud to display our family name on every product we sell — we’ve built a nationwide reputation for exceptional egg quality. To provide full transparency and traceability for our consumers, we print a Farm Code on each carton near the Sell By and Use By dates. You can use our online tool to specify which local family farm your eggs came from.

Family Farm Partnerships

Our team carefully selects our farms, ensuring that each partnership is mutually beneficial. We interview a farmer and their spouse to ensure they share our core values, and we conduct a visual inspection of their operations to verify that their standards align with our own.

Sauder’s Eggs Farm Standards

We prioritize the happiness and health of hens. Our company supports Humane Farm Animal Care DBA Certified Humane®, requiring our network to adhere to strict standards of care for all chickens.

Here are a few guidelines our network follows to produce high-quality, fresh eggs:

  • Everyone who works with chickens on a farm has signed a code of conduct for correct animal handling and received training.
  • Each farm in our network follows stringent biosecurity measures to protect the chickens and eggs.
  • We encourage hen enrichment to promote natural behaviors, such as foraging and dust bathing.
  • The hens have sufficient living spaces based on scientific recommendations.
  • The hens eat feed with essential nutrients and no added hormones.
  • We do not employ programs that withhold feed.
  • The Free Range and Pasture Raised chickens always have access to fresh air and clean water.

Farm to Table Journey

Once eggs are gathered on a farm, they’re placed in a refrigeration unit that meets FDA-required storage conditions. Our employees drive a fleet of more than 65 trucks, which are refrigerated to maintain product freshness throughout transport. We pick up the eggs and deliver them to one of our four processing facilities.

Using the latest egg-handling technology, we complete inspections and confirm the eggs meet our high standards. After preparing and packaging the products, we load them onto our trucks and deliver them to retail centers.
